Connections

Tonight, East Yorkshire Hour (#EYorksHour) is all about Connections! As we are a networking hour with lots of local businesses and charities keen to build relationships within the area, it's the perfect time to share a few tips and strategies.

How do you build your connections?
Do you attend networking events?
How many twitter hours do you get involved with?
Have you seen any results from networking?
Do you share connections?

Share your tips with us between 8pm and 9pm tonight and don't forget to use the hashtag #EYorksHour to stay involved with the conversations!

Guilty pleasures

This morning I gave a presentation about something I'm passionate about - there are three possible answers for this; cake, social media or events. I chose to talk about social media and described it as my guilty pleasure.

Therefore I thought it would be fun to find out what your guilty pleasures are?

Are you a social media geek like me? Do you have a Tuesday night tradition that has become your guilty pleasure?
Is there a particular programme that you couldn't possibly miss?
Or perhaps you're a guilty lover of cake too?

For some light hearted networking tonight, let's scratch the surface to find out what you're most guilty of!

Join us between 8pm - 9pm and don't forget to use #EYorksHour and #GuiltyPleasures

Are there any events coming up in your local area on a Sunday?

Please join in between 8pm - 9pm using #EYorksHour and let us know what Sunday Funday means to you!

EYorksHour update!

Hello all,

You will be pleased to know that I have now secured all singing, all dancing, super fast (fiber optic broadband) internet in my new house which means that I'm back to hosting East Yorkshire Hour with no glitches and wifi failures (fingers crossed).

I for one have missed the weekly interactions and fun updates from our wonderful networkers and I'm sure you'l all be bursting to give us your latest news.

A few changes:

1. At the end of each networking hour, I'm going to let you know the theme of the following week, so that you can start to think up some eye catching tweets and perhaps you might also know someone who would benefit from joining in that particular week too.

2. I'm also going to get back to doing the round up. It will be a little bit more short and sweet than before, however it will still allow those who miss a week, to catch up!

3. Finally, I'm on the look out for anyone that might want to help run East Yorkshire Hour, once or twice a month? With hosting the hour and writing a short roundup afterwards?
If you're interested, then please send me a direct message and I can give you some more details!

Don't forget to join us at 8pm for a nice #EYorksHour catch up and if you can't make it this week, we will tweet you next :-)

Thank you, Krissie

Tour de EYorks

For tonight's #EYorksHour we are celebrating the fantastic county of East Yorkshire after Saturday's brilliant Tour de France, Grand Depart where over a million Yorkshire folk turned out to show their support for the race.

Therefore, our theme is #TourdeEYorks and we want to seek out all the wonderful highlights that East Yorkshire has to offer. Imagine taking a tour and wanting to stop off at all the best places or finding out more about the many towns and villages. Here is your chance to invite networkers to stop at your point of the tour.

Join us at 8pm until 9pm and include both #EYorksHour and #TourdeEYorks to join in with the conversation.

Kickstart!

Tomorrow marks a special day for our Charity of the Year, Kickstart Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Support (@KickstartTYACS) who are a local registered charity supporting young people aged 16-24 with cancer in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

"Young people, not cancer, should be in control of their lives. We want to help them achieve that with a kickstart!"

With this in mind and a little twist of #EYorksHour fun, tonight's theme is about giving each other a Kickstart! Join in from 8pm - 9pm and tell us how you need a Kickstart or how you can help give others a Kickstart!

Is someone having a bad week and may need their smile kickstarting?
Do you need some business advice?
Are you launching a new product or service?
Can we Kickstart publicity for your event?
Do you need help finding local companies?
Are you looking for opportunities to grow your business?
Can you give a shout out to a new business?

Our hashtags for tonight are #EYorksHour and #kickstartTYACS - let's get them trending to spread some charitable love in the way we know best, through twitter!

Please note: If you know a young person fighting cancer in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, then let @kickstartTYACS know what you need and how they can help #kickstart #support.

Snapshot!

Happy Tuesday!!

Tonight is the weekly return of our favourite networking hour #EYorksHour and we have a fun theme to keep you entertained.

If you missed us last week, we discussed local charities; our favourites, upcoming events, fundraising efforts, thank you's and a virtual 'pat on the back' for Ali Crompton who had done a great job fundraising for two local charities.

This weeks #EYorksHour theme is #snapshot and you need to be prepared  before you join in to get the most out of the hour.

87% of the top most engaging posts on social media are photos! Therefore to have a top, engaging hour (which I'm sure it is every week) we are asking you to share three photos that will provide a #snapshot of you! The first you will share at 8.15pm, the second at 8.30pm and the forth at 8.45pm and they will be the following:

8.15pm - A picture of you

8.30pm - A picture of something that makes you smile

8.45pm - A picture explaining something we wouldn't know about you.

This will then allow us to learn more about each other, see the personalities behind the twitter accounts and hopefully have a good laugh!

For those that don't want to share pictures of themselves, you can share work related snaps or just simply network. Join us at 8pm until 9pm using #EYorksHour and #snapshot and please invite your followers to tweet along too!
