Music

Good evening and welcome back to East Yorkshire Hour - your weekly dose of online networking.

Last week the theme was all about food and we ended up making lots of people hungry in the process. Therefore this week's theme is less tasty and instead we will explore a different sense.

Tonight during #EYorksHour we shall discuss and share our preferences on #music

• Do you have a favourite genre?
• What is your all time song?
• Who should we follow in East Yorkshire?
• Where do you go to watch live music?
• How do you prefer to listen to music?
• What's your favourite song at the moment?

The above questions will be asked at relevant intervals and if you want to join in then please use the hashtag #EYorksHour and #music from 8pm until 9pm.

Welcome back to East Yorkshire Hour,

Bring along a friend or two during tonight's networking hour by inviting them to join in with #EYorksHour

There isn't a limit to the amount of people that you can nominate and you may even be a 'newbie' who wants to take the plunge and get involved.

Simply join in by letting us know who they are and what they do, using #EYorksHour

Also, if you have any theme ideas you would like to see us tweet about during #EYorksHour, then please let me know!

• E A S T Y O R K S H I R E H O U R I S B A C K •

Welcome back to East Yorkshire Hour!

Thank you for stopping by tonight and joining us for an hour of networking fun.

I've had a hiatus from managing the hour for a few months, due to the lack of participation in the colder months. However, the hour has picked up over the last few weeks and i've seen a rise in followers and mentions - therefore i figured it was about time to dust off the cobwebs and get back into the swing of things.

Starting with a fresh, new look... Do you like the green?

Also, I have a few ideas to keep networkers engaged. Therefore, please feel free to join in between 8pm and 9pm using the hashtag #EYorksHour and if you have any questions, tweet @EYorksHour and i'll get straight back to you.

Alternatively, if you have any ideas that you would like to see happen during #EYorksHour, then please let me know!

Tweet you later,

Krissie.

Ps. If you are new to the hour,  here's a little guide to help: http://eyorkshour.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/top-tips-for-eyorkshour.html

Autumn

It's that time of the year where the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier and the temperature gets a little chilly. But it also happens to be when we celebrate Halloween, Bonfire Night and the count down for Christmas begins!

Autumn is my favourite season and therefore I wanted to find out what others love about the season too. Is it the shedding of leaves from the trees? Wrapping up warm when faced with the cold? Drinking hot chocolate with plenty of marshmallows on top?

Or do you much prefer the sunshine? Or even the harsh contrast of Winter?

While we are on the subject of Autumn, do you have something on offer for this fantastic season? Do you have a seasonal event coming up? Should we wrap up warm and venture into your shop for some Autumnal treats?

Feel free to contribute with your Autumn inspired tweets between 8pm & 9pm tonight! Don't forget to use the hashtags #EYorksHour and #Autumn to keep up with the conversations.

Guilty pleasures

This morning I gave a presentation about something I'm passionate about - there are three possible answers for this; cake, social media or events. I chose to talk about social media and described it as my guilty pleasure.

Therefore I thought it would be fun to find out what your guilty pleasures are?

Are you a social media geek like me? Do you have a Tuesday night tradition that has become your guilty pleasure?
Is there a particular programme that you couldn't possibly miss?
Or perhaps you're a guilty lover of cake too?

For some light hearted networking tonight, let's scratch the surface to find out what you're most guilty of!

Join us between 8pm - 9pm and don't forget to use #EYorksHour and #GuiltyPleasures

EYorksHour update!

Hello all,

You will be pleased to know that I have now secured all singing, all dancing, super fast (fiber optic broadband) internet in my new house which means that I'm back to hosting East Yorkshire Hour with no glitches and wifi failures (fingers crossed).

I for one have missed the weekly interactions and fun updates from our wonderful networkers and I'm sure you'l all be bursting to give us your latest news.

A few changes:

1. At the end of each networking hour, I'm going to let you know the theme of the following week, so that you can start to think up some eye catching tweets and perhaps you might also know someone who would benefit from joining in that particular week too.

2. I'm also going to get back to doing the round up. It will be a little bit more short and sweet than before, however it will still allow those who miss a week, to catch up!

3. Finally, I'm on the look out for anyone that might want to help run East Yorkshire Hour, once or twice a month? With hosting the hour and writing a short roundup afterwards?
If you're interested, then please send me a direct message and I can give you some more details!

Don't forget to join us at 8pm for a nice #EYorksHour catch up and if you can't make it this week, we will tweet you next :-)

Thank you, Krissie

Kickstart!

Tomorrow marks a special day for our Charity of the Year, Kickstart Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Support (@KickstartTYACS) who are a local registered charity supporting young people aged 16-24 with cancer in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

"Young people, not cancer, should be in control of their lives. We want to help them achieve that with a kickstart!"

With this in mind and a little twist of #EYorksHour fun, tonight's theme is about giving each other a Kickstart! Join in from 8pm - 9pm and tell us how you need a Kickstart or how you can help give others a Kickstart!

Is someone having a bad week and may need their smile kickstarting?
Do you need some business advice?
Are you launching a new product or service?
Can we Kickstart publicity for your event?
Do you need help finding local companies?
Are you looking for opportunities to grow your business?
Can you give a shout out to a new business?

Our hashtags for tonight are #EYorksHour and #kickstartTYACS - let's get them trending to spread some charitable love in the way we know best, through twitter!

Tweet you later!

Please note: If you know a young person fighting cancer in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, then let @kickstartTYACS know what you need and how they can help #kickstart #support.

Snapshot!

Happy Tuesday!!

Tonight is the weekly return of our favourite networking hour #EYorksHour and we have a fun theme to keep you entertained.

If you missed us last week, we discussed local charities; our favourites, upcoming events, fundraising efforts, thank you's and a virtual 'pat on the back' for Ali Crompton who had done a great job fundraising for two local charities.

This weeks #EYorksHour theme is #snapshot and you need to be prepared  before you join in to get the most out of the hour.

87% of the top most engaging posts on social media are photos! Therefore to have a top, engaging hour (which I'm sure it is every week) we are asking you to share three photos that will provide a #snapshot of you! The first you will share at 8.15pm, the second at 8.30pm and the forth at 8.45pm and they will be the following:

8.15pm - A picture of you

8.30pm - A picture of something that makes you smile

8.45pm - A picture explaining something we wouldn't know about you.

This will then allow us to learn more about each other, see the personalities behind the twitter accounts and hopefully have a good laugh!

For those that don't want to share pictures of themselves, you can share work related snaps or just simply network. Join us at 8pm until 9pm using #EYorksHour and #snapshot and please invite your followers to tweet along too!

Local charities!

Good day to you!

Last week was a last minute #EYorksHour session due to it being Krissie's first day in her new job! Apologies to those who joined in to a theme free hour. However, this week we are back, all prepared and with a theme to keep your thumbs working hard!

For those that don't know, one of our regulars (and much loved) Ali Crompton (@alicrompton), organised two fantastic events this weekend in aid of @kickstartTYACS and @thebrinknet! Both events were a great success and therefore we thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about your favourite, local charities too. It also happens to be National Volunteers Week, which again is closely linked with charities and compliments this weeks theme.

In this hour please join in by using #EYorksHour #localcharity and join the discussion from 8pm until 9pm.

Who is your favourite local charity and why?
Are you hosting a fundraising event?
Have you done or are doing a challenge to fundraise?
Are you a charity and are looking for volunteers?
Do you want to give a shoutout or thank you to a volunteer or two?
Has a charity helped you in one way or another?

Have a great day and we will tweet you later :-)

Ps. Please check out our charity of the year: http://kickstartcancersupport.com

Motivation

Good evening #EYorksHour,
Last Wednesday a couple of my friends (I am speaking as @Krissie_Akrill) appeared in an interview on London Live promoting their business The High Spirit Bag which was founded in 2012 and has already received plenty of success, especially after winning Virgin Media’s Pitch to Rich competition.
Josh and his brother John studied at Wyke Sixth Form College at the same time as me and are both incredibly positive people! In the interview with London Live, John ends by giving some advice to those thinking about starting up their own business, but i actually think what he said can give us all some motivation to achieve our goals.
“Go out and do it, believe in what you have to offer the world and make sure it happens.”
You can watch the interview here:
and to learn more about the amazing High Spirit Bag, please visit: www.highspiritbags.com and follow them
Tonight’s theme for #EYorksHour is #motivation and we want to know what motivates you to run your business, work for your employer or volunteer.
Is there a quote you recite?
Do you listen to music?
Are you a goal setter?
Do you try to maintain a positive attitude?
Is it seeing the results that motivates you?
Do you have a family who motivate you?

Join in the conversation at 8pm and use both hashtags #EYorksHour and #motivation.
