Motivation

Good evening #EYorksHour,

Last Wednesday a couple of my friends (I am speaking as @Krissie_Akrill) appeared in an interview on London Live promoting their business The High Spirit Bag which was founded in 2012 and has already received plenty of success, especially after winning Virgin Media’s Pitch to Rich competition.

Josh and his brother John studied at Wyke Sixth Form College at the same time as me and are both incredibly positive people! In the interview with London Live, John ends by giving some advice to those thinking about starting up their own business, but i actually think what he said can give us all some motivation to achieve our goals.

“Go out and do it, believe in what you have to offer the world and make sure it happens.”

We brought back the popular #hiddengems theme during last weeks #EYorksHour to find the hidden businesses, treasures and causes that are based in East Yorkshire. It was widely requested by networkers and this time we received a huge amount of recommendations, what a great way to network!

Hidden gems are back!

Welcome back to East Yorkshire Hour!

We hope that you enjoyed our last #EYorksHour session, but if you missed it then you can read a roundup here: http://eyorkshour.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/eyorkshour-6th-may-roundup.html

Way back in February (in our second week of themes) we asked our networking participants to help us find East Yorkshire’s hidden gems, with an aim to grow the network of #EYorksHour and provide a few ‘shout out’s’ to the treasured places that we like to visit, eat, shop, work out, be entertained and even do business.

It was an extremely popular theme, so much so, that it has been highly requested in our survey. ( You can have your say here: http://eyorkshour.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/eyorkshour-feedback.html).
Therefore, this week we are challenging networkers to find EVEN MORE hidden gems and share them with others across the hour.

#EYorksHour | 6th May | Roundup

Last week, our #EYorksHour networking session gave us the opportunity to have a sweeping of fun whilst getting to know local businesses that little bit more. As always, the #EYorksHour twist
kept participants engaged for an hour long #supermarketsweep.

Networkers were asked to imagine that they were shopping in a super market and had two minutes to grab items that best described their business, cause or workplace.

For example, this was @EYorksHour’s:

" Our #supermarketsweep includes; banana (energy), sweets (dash of fun) cake (sharing), tuna (for thinking), light bulbs (ideas) #EYorksHour "

The inspiration for the theme came from our chosen charity @kickatartTYACS - They have been nominated as Asda's charity of the month in the Beverley store! If you are shopping in Asda (Beverley) don’t forget to show your support by picking up the green disc and popping it into the 'Kickstart Cancer Support' box (please ask for the green disc if you haven’t been given one). At the end of the month, whichever charity has the most discs in their container ‘wins’ and will receive a donation from the kind people at Asda.

Supermarket Sweep!

#EYorksHour is back with another fun theme to aid your local networking. We want to know what elements make up your business, cause or work place with an #EYorksHour twist!

Tonight's theme is #supermarketsweep

Imagine you are shopping in a super market and have two minutes to grab items that best describe your business. Your sweep should fit 140 characters and will represent the many elements.

For example, this is #EYorksHour's:

" Our #supermarketsweep includes; banana (energy), sweets (dash of fun) cake (sharing), tuna (for thinking), light bulbs (ideas) #EYorksHour "
